I managed to stay on track!

I stayed on track yesterday!  That's the whole key to getting started on a nutrition plan... starting with such a spark that you see results soon.  Results keep you motivated.  The better the results, the more the motivation.  Well, I'm motivated.  I lost 1 lb. yesterday!

It's like a vicious circle when you just play at dieting or eating right.  If you dont drop enough calories out of your diet to see results, then you don't have a reason to continue.  I've done this so many times, thinking I'm "dieting" but not losing weight.  It's so discouraging!  You know when this usually ends is when I start keeping a journal of everything I eat and counting the calories.  Sometimes it's a real eye opener, and I think, "No wonder you're not losing weight!"

I'm still having times when I have the munchies!  I guess that probably means that something in my diet is sparking this... maybe too much sugar, even though I've been low calorie.  Anyway, I'm trying to find low calorie snacks.  Some things are so low calorie that you could almost eat as much as you want.  I really like the calorie value of chicken and turkey breast.  Then there's celery, pickles, olives, mushrooms, mustard....

I could never figure out the big deal against fat, until I started calories.  Fat has twice the calories of carbs and protein for the same amount (same weight).  Mayonnaise, butter, cheese, etc. are all so fatty that they add tons of calories to what may be relatively low calorie without them.

Logging your food and counting calories really changes the way you look at food and its nutritional value.  You should try it!

If I were on a veggies-and-dip diet

The plate in the photo would work for lunch.

Provided there was more dip in the fridge.
