A hug is better than chocolate! Part 3

We were now considering several options.  Jake was making phone calls to the people that he works with, letting them know the circumstances and that he might not be in to work.  One person suggested that his boss's mechanic may be able to diagnose it for free, if he brought the car to Bellevue.  The question was:  Is he a certified mechanic that the state would recognize for fixing emissions?  I was going through the list of certified Pierce co. auto repair shops, calling them and getting an idea of what was needed to be done to the car, and the cost.

The options we were considering were:  1)  Take the car back to where we bought it to have it fixed since they repair cars (but aren't emission certified).  2) Return the car to get our money back and they could sell it to the people who offered them more (who also lived up there where they wouldn't need emissions testing).  3)  Take the car to Bellevue to have the friend of the boss look at it.  4)  Take the car to a local shop to be fixed or spend enough to get a waiver for the emissions test.

We opted for #4, take it to a local shop.  After calling several places, I found a shop that sounded friendly and honest, and we dropped the car off.  It was now 3:30 and we were starving.  I needed to go to Bellevue to shop for our business, and Jake's crew was working in Bellevue, so we arranged for me to drop him off up there.   I wanted something quick and easy to eat in the car as we drove to Bellevue.  I was also feeling stressed, and was starving, having not eaten anything but vegetables all day.  So I ordered a burger, fries, and "not sweet" iced tea.  Not a very healthy choice!

As we were driving up to Bellevue, Jake accidentally spilled his lemonade all over himself.  His clothes were wet and sticky from the sugar, and he was remarking about how bad the day had been til now.  He still had to work all evening, so we stopped at Target and got him some new clothes.  He really liked the top that we got for him to wear for work, and said it was much better than his old one.

Jake commented as we were going to meet his co-workers, "At least something good came out of it, I got new clothes!"  At last, a bright spot in a long day!  I realized and commented back, "something good usually comes out of something bad."  If you think about it, it's true.

We met his co-workers just a little before 5 pm and Jake got his stuff out of our car to go to work.  I thought he had gotten everything, but he came back to the car one last time... for what I was wondering???  He gave me a big hug!!!  It made everything *wrong* that had happened that day disappear!  It was all worth it for the appreciation and the thanks shown by one very thoughtful gesture... a hug!

The rest of the day's meal plans did not go well, but life is not only about what you eat.  It also includes the touching moments you’ll never forget.  :-)
