A hug is better than chocolate! Part 1
Today was a rather stressful, but fulfilling day. We have a fine young man (Jake, a friend of John's) living with us and he just bought a car on Saturday from friends of ours in Port Townsend. This was the day set aside to get him his own car insurance and get the title of the car transferred into his name, along with new tabs.
How does this relate to weight management? In every way! If we can survive stress and stay on target in our diet, we're on our way to becoming the thinner me! I'm afraid I didn't do well today.
As we left the house at 9:30 am, I grabbed a glass of water to bring with me. I would have usually grabbed a Special K Protein meal bar, but haven't bought any recently. I've read a small part of Jillian Michael's "Master Your Metabolism", that states certain types of soy products are not good for consumption. I've ordered the book, and the same cookbook from Half.com, and are awaiting their arrival. But I thought that I'd cut soy out of my diet for a while and see if I feel better. So I didn't *make* time to grab anything to eat.
We got to Jake's bank at 9:50, thinking the lobby would be open for Jake to get a counter check with the bank's routing number on it. He needed it to set up direct deposit for his insurance. The lobby didn't open til 10 (duh... I knew that). We tried getting it throught the drive-thru, and were denied. So we waited. He has a checking account, but not a checkbook (so we didn't have anything with the routing number on it to fax to the insurance company).
The next stop was our bank to deposit Jeff's check and pull out some cash. Then, on to Kinko's to fax information to the insurance company. We were in Kinko's about an hour, sending and receiving faxes (if that's the correct word). We had to make copies of his driver's license and the car title, along with the counter check from his account, then send them in. We received 11 pages back of applications to fill out, etc... had to fax them back. There's were several delays as we had to call our agent to clarify points in the policy, and as other people came into Kinko's and used the one and only fax machine that they had. Finally, they faxed us back Jake's insurance cards. He was insured! We got over one hurdle, not knowing the next one was impossibly high. Sigh.
To be continued in "Part 2".
