The problem is that we focus on weight loss instead of health. Not everyone can lose weight and keep it off--and obese people often lose weight with very detrimental consequences to their health that we don't hear about often. We need to focus on overall health; a fat person who exercises and eats well and has good blood pressure and cholesterol levels is healthier, for example, than a thin person with bad cholesterol who never gets off the couch. We focus on what we look like rather than what we feel like and how healthy we are, which is the problem.

I agree with all of these reasons diets fail. We definately do need to make one cheat a week. I wouldn't even call it a cheat. I would call it a treat. You need to reward yourself once a week for sticking to your diet. I also hate the plateau. It sucks. You just have to work through it.
